Eighth graders were asked to "read" two of the three education speeches by President Obama, President Reagan, and President George. H. Bush. ("Read" is in quotation marks because they were actually watching the videos of the speeches.) I put the text of the speeches in www.wordle.net, and the graphics of the speeches are below. The larger the word, the more frequently it is used in the text. It is a brilliant tool. Can you tell which is President Obama's? President Reagan's? President Bush's? Please respond and let us know your guesses.

I think those wordles are very interesting. The content makes me think and the visual they give is just cool. My guess is that the first one is President Reagan, the second is President H.W. Bush, and the third is President Obama. I wonder what the Declaration of Independence would look like... or some Dr. Seuss! I think I will go check it out! Thank you for sharing what you are doing. It makes it easier to deal with the sadness of not being able to be in a class taught by Mrs. Gates!

Drat! James and I were just looking at the wordles and I realized I had the order mixed up in my answers. That's a bit like not checking the instructions on a test, I suppose. Oh well. At any rate we took Mrs. Gates introduction on weebly and made a wordle of it and it is very cool. You can see it at http://www.wordle.net/show/wrdl/1147511/Paper_and_Glass
